There, there was a new helper in the library today, while I was shelving books. It just trotted right past with a rather old copy of Les Miserables an put it on the shelf. In the right place even.

It helped with the whole rack.

It's red and looks a little like hair.

I'm DISTURBED.

Ah, yes. That would be the Lady Medusa.

Well, her hair. She's very... deft.

I caught her and Marius playing catch with a book the other day. There were words.

Are you certain it was her? That almost sounds like an Attilan royal having fun. I think there's some protocol against that.

Acres of sentient red hair and an attitude that won't quit?

Also, I think they were couching it as "research." With BOOKS.

Yep, that's Lady Medusa all right. She's the fun one.

I'm trying to decide if the little helper is revenge or an apology.

It's still Very Creepy.

For lack of a better term, I tend to refer to it as trichokinesis, although given the unusual tensile properties of the hair in question, I'm thinking a morphic psychokinetic manifestation is more apt.

Of course, one cannot simply call a Lady of Attilan down to the lab for tests, alas. Propriety and all.

Maybe you should ask Marius to ask her. She seems rather open to his ideas of experiments. *sour*

From: [identity profile] x-forge.livejournal.com
Ooh, positively scandalous. I've heard about Marius' "experiments". They usually involve the exchange of some bodily fluids, but I was under the impression he'd grown out of that phase...

I- You- But-

You really shouldn't tell me these things. Now I have to go examine the texts where they were "experimenting" to see if I need to break out the Serious Book Recovery Equipment.

That sounds a lot like a jealous wife talking there, Jennie dear.

Her vows prohibit that, actually. We've had that chat.

Ah yes, Marius' inability to fulfill his husbandly duties rears its head again.

Interesting that you ascribe it to a lack of ability on his part and not a lack on interest on hers.

Boys.

Well, I didn't want to offend his fragile pride.

I don't think there's a power in the 'verse that can make Marius stop being smug.

One can, however, ask a Lady of Attilan if she would be willing to pay a visit to the lab in order to take tests.

That's just crazy talk.

The Lady in question is already doing me one significant favor, I would not impose upon her gracious nature with another.

What favor do you mean?

Grown-up talk. No need to worry yourself.

You're just BEGGING for bodily injury tonight, aren't you?

Miss Smith, you wound me. I am the model of decorum and civility, especially when dealing with our delicate Attilani flowers.

Bucky, I'm not the one who will be wounding you. I fully endorse the princess' in any retaliationshe may make against you.

At this point in time, I find it rather prudent to remind you that this particular Lady of Attilan knows how to get to your lab, your workshop, your room, and the garage.

And should you be looking for me, there is a significant non-zero chance that I would likely be in one of those locations. See also: my office, my car, the gym, and any of the common areas.

Yes, I know where those are, too. Your car is the reason I mentioned the garage.

I have to disagree, Crystal. I have just hair. Medusa has really great hair.

Date: 2007-04-25 11:53 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] x-plosive.livejournal.com
No, it's hair that moves by itself, at a great distance from its owner. It's POSSESSED hair.

Date: 2007-04-26 12:01 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] x-aerial.livejournal.com
Yes to your first statement, and, I suppose, a semi-yes to the second one. It is not truly possessed, of course, but yes, Medusa is able to control it and have it move and act according to her will. I can alter and control air in various ways; Medusa has full control over her hair, even when it is no longer attached to her head.

From: [identity profile] x-plosive.livejournal.com
It's very kind of her hair to help me with my work. I appreciate it, truly.

But I'm not at all used to seeing hair move like that and it's rather unnerving.

Okay, VERY unnerving.

Date: 2007-04-26 12:08 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] x-aerial.livejournal.com
Do you find other powers unnerving as well?

From: [identity profile] x-plosive.livejournal.com
Only when I can't see the person behind them. Dani's illusions would be a prime example. Also, to use an older example, Magneto. Whenever things would go haywire before he actually showed up, creepy.

From: [identity profile] x-aerial.livejournal.com
I am going to pretend that you did not just, in effect, compare my sister and the use of her mutant abilities to Magneto and the use of his.

From: [identity profile] x-pete.livejournal.com
Why not? Does being a bit of a shit prevent someone from being analogous to something in other respects? I mean, the man's Jewish, as well, isn't he? Are we not allowed to mention his heritage in the same context as other holocaust survivors?

While I'm not going to defend Not!Daddy, I am going to agree with Pete. Crazy or not, Magneto's got better control over his powers than pretty much anyone with access to these journals.

Like the other two said, he was the most powerful and in control mutant I've known. Possibly ever existed. And it's a bit awesome to see that kind of power and control.

You actually get used to that after the first week or so, things randomly levitating before he enters a room. Usually a good sign he's pissed about something. But he's usually rather courteous about it.
